Greetings, G.O. Readers!
I hope all you guys are having an awesome day so far. I guess you could say that this is a companion post to the one I did a while ago, regarding how some situations and some people are no longer a good fit for us. Until we’re able to find those things that are a better fit, we have to try on different “styles” of attitude or behavior, so to speak. For example, if we’re trying to figure out if skinny jeans can work for our shape, or if those high heeled boots will look as good on us, as they do on that super model; we sometimes have to try on new thought patterns and new activities to see if they’re a good fit for who we’re seeking to grow into.
Maybe so far, you’ve been a very opinionated person, who’s always judging what someone else is saying, doing, or wearing, and you no longer want to be that kind of person. What kind out personality traits might you need to try on, to help you grow into the person you prefer to be? What kind of thoughts does a less judgmental person think? What kind of activities does a person who minds their own business engage in? Once you can answer these questions, you might then want to try on these new thoughts and behaviors, until they become natural to you; so if your co-worker has on something you think is inappropriate, and you find yourself going off into a mental tangent about it, you can choose to “pull off” that course of thinking, (in much the same way, you’d pull off a blouse that didn’t become you), and try on a new mental course of action. You might instead, focus on what you plan on cooking for your family tonight, or where you and your friends are going this weekend; or on that new blog post idea, or planning this year’s upcoming Christmas soiree. The point would be, to take off the old way of thinking and behaving, and try on something more refreshing and productive.
If your current office environment doesn’t appeal to you, instead of getting caught up in how awful it is, what can be a more productive line of thinking, you might try on? Is there any special touch you could add to your own personal space to make it a bit more appealing? Could you be researching what line of work might be a better fit for you, and whether you’d need more schooling to break into this new work? Could you use your free time to focus on your side hustle, and come up with some positive, and cool, new ideas to get things up and running?
Whatever old ideas, behaviors, and beliefs that have become too tight, stifling, or big, can be switched out or altered, so they can provide a better fit in your life. The object is simply to explore those thoughts, ideas, and attitudes, that will propel you into becoming the you, you long to be–those things that will make you grow. So if something in your life no longer fits, remember, you don’t always have to replace it altogether; in some cases it can be altered to no longer constrict you by being too small, or no longer trip you up, by being too big. But if a belief or behavior has become too full of holes, or faded too badly, or too stained, it’s time to go “shopping” for new ones that allow you to step out into the fashionable fullness of who you aspire to be.
Understand, that just like real shopping, you’ll find some things that look better on the rack than they do on you; and that’s okay. Don’t give up. Keep looking for your better fit. Notice I didn’t say perfect. No belief system, attitude, thought patterns, or behaviors will make your life perfect. There are simply some that make your life less of a struggle, and feel more in alignment with who you choose to be; but remember, that even some of these better fitting “items” you find, still may get worn out over time, and need to be replaced, with yet, even better fits. Keep in mind, life is about evolution. You’re not the same person you were at 10; and you may not be the same person you are at 90, compared to who you are now–and that’s okay–that’s how it should be.
Keep trucking. Keep trying things on. Go for the better fit.
That’s all for now!
Bless Your October Souls!
Beautiful shoes, but hard to walk in. What kind of life situations, do we find ourselves in that are the same? |
