It all starts within…

Enjoy the journey.  Experience the process.  Explore your potential.  Know your comfort.  Find your peace.

Choose and move towards your ideal life.

–Girl October

And what can assist us in accessing the peace and comfort within us, being more in touch with our journey and process, and moving toward our ideal lives?

Why, Planning and Journaling, of course!

So, why plan?

*Planners can help in getting potential goals and dreams out of our heads and down on paper, so they can become more concrete and actionable.

*Planners can help us in sorting out our priorities and goals on a daily, weekly, monthly, or even yearly basis.

*Planners provide a place for us to go back and review our past priorities, actions, and game plans and measure what did and didn’t work over a certain time period.

*Planners can provide a way to set up small actionable steps to achieve our goals.

*Planners provide a concrete place to record countdowns towards future events we’re looking forward to.

*Planners can help us to maintain accountability toward achieving the goals and milestones that will move us closer to life and experiences we desire.

*Planners can help with keeping up with special events such as birthdays, anniversaries, upcoming vacations, etc.

*Motivational or Mindset planners can offer prompts to guide us toward achieving particular types of goals such as financial, career, personal, health, spiritual, or recreational goals.

*Specialized planners such as “Holiday Planners” can help with organizing activities such as meal planning, shopping, gift ideas, budget, etc, during special times like Thanksgiving and Christmas–making these times less stressful.

Why journal?

Some of the reasons for journaling overlap with the ones for planning, but here are some of the primary benefits of journaling:

*Journaling can help us with bringing to light our positive and negative patterns, so that we can begin to enact change.

*Journals provide a place for us to get our ideas, realizations, and light-bulb moments out of our heads and down on paper where we can see them and put them into play.

*Journaling can allow us to get fearful, anxious thoughts out of our heads so they no longer seem so insurmountable and scary.

*Journals provide a place for stream of consciousness writing that can sometimes lead to break-thrus and unexpected insights.

*One of the awesome things about journaling is the rewarding feeling of looking back at past entries and seeing the progress we’ve made. It’s always inspiring to see how far we’ve come emotionally, financially, mentally, etc.

*Specialized journals such as Gratitude Journals can be great ways to remain positive by placing your focus on all there is in our lives to be grateful for, thereby expanding our perspectives.

*Guided Journals can serve to help us with realizations we might not have considered on our own.

*And one of the best benefits of journal writing is how cathartic it is! Even if we feel we can never share something with another human being, we can always unload our feelings into our journal.

So now that you’re familiar with some of the reasons to use a planner or journal, what’s stopping you from taking advantage of all the potential benefits each can provide?  And remember, you can even get started with just a regular notebook!
