Good morning, October Souls!
I hope all of you are having the type of Saturday you wish for so far. I was going to say, “I hope you’re having a relaxing Saturday”, but then I thought to myself, that maybe not everyone wants to have a relaxing Saturday. Some of you may want an adventurous Saturday, or a Saturday where you get a lot done–hence, my change of wording. So, here’s to your Saturday unfolding in just the way you wish; and for those of you who that’s not happening for, I can relate.
As I perused my old Girl October website, I came across the page with some of my favorite quotes, and I found some words that were helpful to me. Now, I offer these same words from Pema Chodron to you as well:
“Rather than letting our negativity get the better of us, we could acknowledge that right now we feel like a piece of shit and not be squeamish about taking a good look.”
And…
“We think that the point is to pass the test or overcome the problem, but the truth is that things don’t really get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then they come together again and fall apart again. It’s just like that. The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy.”
And one more for good measure:
“You are the sky. Everything else – it’s just the weather.”
So, release the reins for a moment. Do what you can and then let the day unfold. We’ll arrive where we need to be. Take a “fall” pace and unwind into a golden, amber October evening, within. We can all inwardly go to that place any time of year. Let’s take Ms. Chodron’s advice, and remember we are the “sky.” All the sensations and drama and life situations and dilemmas are simply “the weather.” Let’s do our best to accept, observe, and let these things come and go, (sometimes, you even have to accept, that you can’t accept something). That’s okay too. Just be aware that non-acceptance is present, and let it be–until it isn’t…
Here’s to a wonderful weekend to you all!
