Make the Holidays Intentional With a “Soft List”

Posted on July 13, 2026July 13, 2026 by admin

Let’s make the holidays intentional with a “soft list” while it’s still July.

Hey there, October Souls!

After two weeks of Christmas in July reflections, future-self care, cozy planning, traditions, tiny steps, and gentle releases, today feels like a good day to make a soft little list.

Nothing heavy.

Nothing complicated.

Nothing that requires a spreadsheet, a budget meeting, or a full seasonal strategy.

Just a simple list of things that would make the fall and holiday season feel softer, sweeter, and more like you.

Think of it as your soft holiday season menu.

A little collection of things you’d love to experience, create, keep, simplify, or enjoy.

What Is a Soft Holiday Season List?

A soft holiday season list is not a strict to-do list.

It’s more like a cozy wish list for your spirit.

It can include little things like:

  • Movies you want to watch

  • Drinks you want to make

  • Traditions you want to keep

  • Places you want to go

  • Things you want to simplify

  • Boundaries you want to honor

  • Small joys you want to make room for

  • Cozy moments you don’t want to miss

It’s not about doing everything.

It’s about noticing what actually sounds good to you.

A Few Ideas for Your List

Here are some soft holiday season ideas to get you started:

  • Have at least one quiet holiday movie night

  • Make hot cocoa or a cozy coffee drink

  • Take a drive to see fall leaves or Christmas lights

  • Create a fall or holiday playlist

  • Buy one candle that makes the season feel real

  • Wear cozy pajamas on purpose

  • Make one simple comfort meal

  • Decorate one corner instead of pressuring yourself to do the whole house

  • Plan one slow morning

  • Keep one tradition that still feels meaningful

  • Release one expectation that feels heavy

  • Start a gentle gift list

  • Spend less time rushing

  • Choose one day to do absolutely nothing festive and not feel bad about it

  • Let something be simple and still call it beautiful

See? Nothing dramatic.

Just little pieces of peace.

Make It Yours

Your soft holiday season list doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s.

Your list can be cozy and quiet.

Or festive and full.

Maybe it’s romantic and nostalgic or simple and practical.

Maybe it’s mostly about rest.

Maybe it’s about bringing back joy.

There’s no wrong list.

There’s only the one that feels honest.

Today’s Prompt

Make a list titled:

My Soft Holiday Season List

Then write down 10 things that would make the fall and holiday season feel softer, sweeter, or more intentional.

They can be tiny, fun, practical, or emotional.

They can be things you want to do, things you want to feel, or things you want to stop carrying.

After you make your list, circle the three that feel the most important.

Those three may be clues.

They may show you what your future self is really craving.

And that’s the whole point of this Holiday Soft Launch.

Not to create the perfect season.

Not to turn joy into another assignment.

But to pay attention to what feels good, what feels peaceful, and what feels true.

Because sometimes a softer season begins with a simple little list.
