Using Your Sundays Now to Reset for the Season Ahead

Posted on July 28, 2026July 28, 2026 by admin

As summer is barreling past us in a fury, for those of us looking forward to fall and the holidays, it can be helpful to use our Sundays now to reset for the season ahead.

This is today’s Christmas in July topic.

Sometimes a reset doesn’t need to be dramatic.

It doesn’t need to involve cleaning the whole house, planning your entire life, reorganizing every drawer, or suddenly becoming a completely different person before Monday.

Sometimes a reset can be simple.

A little pause.

A little clearing.

A little checking in.

A little moment where you ask:

What would make the season ahead feel softer?

That’s what today’s Christmas in July post is about.

A Sunday reset for the season ahead.

Start With One Small Space

Choose one small area that could use a little attention.

Not the whole house.

Just one place.

Maybe it’s your nightstand.

Your desk, your kitchen counter, your planner area.

Your purse or your car.

One drawer or corner.

One little space that’s been quietly asking for help.

Clear it, straighten it, or make it feel just a little more peaceful.

Small counts.

Check Your Calendar

Take a soft look at the week ahead.

Not to overwhelm yourself.

Not to fill every blank space.

Just to notice what’s already there.

Ask yourself:

Where might I need a little breathing room?

Maybe you need to leave one evening open.

Maybe you need to prep something early.

Maybe you need to not say yes to anything else this week.

Maybe you simply need to remember that your time belongs to you too.

Write One Gentle List

Make one simple list for the season ahead.

It could be:

  • Gift ideas

  • Cozy season dreams

  • Things to simplify

  • Traditions to keep

  • Expectations to release

  • Holiday planner notes

  • Movies to watch

  • Meals to make

  • Little things that would make life easier later

Don’t make ten lists.

Just one.

Let it be useful, not perfect.

Choose One Thing to Release

A reset isn’t only about adding something.

Sometimes it’s about letting something go.

So ask:

What am I willing to release this week?

Maybe it’s pressure, overthinking, or rushing.

Maybe it’s the need to have everything figured out.

Maybe it’s guilt over doing less.

Maybe it’s the belief that rest has to wait until everything is finished.

Let one thing be lighter.

Plan One Cozy Moment

Give yourself one small thing to look forward to.

A movie.

A slow morning.

A good drink.

A quiet evening.

A walk or comfort meal.

A few pages in a book.

A little journaling.

Something that reminds you that your life isn’t only for getting things done.

It’s also for being lived.

Today’s Prompt

Complete this sentence:

One small Sunday reset I can do for the season ahead is…

Then ask yourself:

What would make this week feel a little softer?

No need for a complicated answer.

Maybe it’s clearing one space.

Maybe it’s checking your calendar.

Maybe it’s writing one list.

Maybe it’s resting without guilt.

Maybe it’s making room for one cozy moment.

Whatever it is, let it count.

Because sometimes preparing for a softer season doesn’t begin with a big plan.

Sometimes it begins with one quiet reset.

One small choice.

One little promise to your future self that says:

I’m making room for peace before the pressure begins.
