Being Thankful in Advance

It’s that time of year again-Thanksgiving season!  For most of us, Thanksgiving represents a time for coming together to enjoy the company of family and friends, good food, and most of all, to serve as a holiday reminder to be appreciative of all of our blessings and good fortune.  Even though the celebration of Thanksgiving is a great way to harness the energy of gratitude, it should by no means the only time we ponder the good moments we value in life.

Having a daily attitude of gratitude is a great way to boost your mood and increase happiness levels; but did you know you can be thankful in advance for things you don’t yet have in your current 3-D reality?  There’s always something to be grateful for, but sometimes when beginning a gratitude practice, it can be challenging to keep coming up with new things to be thankful for, (because listing the same things day in and day out can get repetitive and boring-trust me, I speak from experience).

Being thankful in advance for things you are actively choosing (or manifesting) to bring about in your life is an excellent way to keep your gratitude practice fresh and exciting!  Looking to bring a new car into your life?  Great! Write out a gratitude statement as though you already have it, (for example, “I’m so happy and grateful for my new Audi A-3!  This is such an amazing car”!). Desiring more money in your bank account?  You could say, I’m so blessed to be making $10,000 a month now! Or, “Look at all this extra money I have in my account!!  I’m so thankful to be in such a good financial situation now!”

If you don’t have time to write out full gratitude statements or just don’t feel like it, you can always simply write out the thing itself in one or a few words.  In the first example you can simply write “my new A-3” or “my new car”.  If you’re going to write in this shortened way, and are using a blank sheet of paper, be sure to head your paper with something like “My Gratitude List” and date it, (no need for this if you already have a gratitude journal with designated space, such as our “Thankful on the Daily” Gratitude Journal, available at the great price of $4.99 here).

Just remember to do what feels good for you in your gratitude practice.  By all means keep listing what you’re thankful for in the traditional way or feel free to do a combination of listing things you already have and things that aren’t yet in your physical reality.  Keep in mind, there is no right or wrong way to do this.  If listing multiple things is too much pressure, just list one.  If writing daily is too often for you, write every other day or write a list of things at the end of the week.  It shouldn’t feel like pressure. It’s a practice to gradually increase your sense of peace and happiness-in addition to helping you draw in even more to be grateful for!

That’s it for today’s post. Look out for my next post on gratitude on Sunday, November 12th.  In my next post we’ll be delving into the topic of Askfirmations as a way of being thankful in advance.

Until then,

Have a beautiful weekend, my October Souls!
